Strike

Many universities across the United Kingdom announced a strike on the 7th March 2006. The strike will be participated by academic staff demanding more pay. Because in the last 30 years, the pay has decreased dramatically, and it is getting worse.

What lead to the strike is since the top up fee was introduced by the government, the parliament promised that third of that fees will go to increase the salary of the staff. However that did not happen, so it is a promise that was not kept.

The staff will not be lecturing, and will not answer any student inquiry. Some say the strike will be for one day only, till a negotiation is held to meet the demands. Others say the strike will continue till the demand is met.

Now, this will greatly effect the students, that’s if the strike continues, and will effect the exams as well.

As for me, I just hope it goes all well, so I can graduate and return home. If you give a promise, you should keep it.
